Comment: Job search news is good for IT people

by Anthony from Job Search Mentoring.com

This artice in CNN Money.com reports on some very encouraging job search news for techies and IT people.

For example:

  • The Bureau of Labour Statistics in the U.S.A. predicts that demand for IT people out to the year 2018 will grow by 32%

  • The rate of layoffs for IT staff in 2010 fell by 73% which was the lowest level since 2000.

Most signicant of all for me was the analysis undertaken by jobboard.com of the milllions of job postings during 2010 for the top 10 fastest growing key words for skills in demand.

They were - HTML5, mobile app, Android, Twitter, iQuery, Facebook, social media, iPhone, cloud computing, and virtualization - all the top 10 in-demand skills were in IT.

For IT people reading this, here's a question about your readiness for these emerging opportunities - how many of the these top 10 skill appear in your resume?

The opportunity is coming, are you ready for it?
